Details
Kubernetes and related products such as OpenShift have traditionally enforced strict cluster boundaries. However there are often non-functional constraints which require splitting workloads over multiple clusters, and managing the result can be complex. Submariner is a shared data-plane for Kubernetes clusters, providing transparent networking between pods in different Kubernetes clusters. It also provides cross-cluster service discovery, and can even handle clusters with overlapping network addresses.
In this talk, we will discover :
- What Submariner does
- How to use it,
- How it works,
- How it fits into the larger multi-cluster ecosystem.
As far as possible, explanations will be based on live demonstrations on a running setup.
